Circle’s CCTP V1 deprecation gives developers still using the first version of its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) 95 days to migrate before the legacy contracts stop processing $USDC transfers. The company said CCTP V1 burn limits will begin falling on Oct. 31. A burn limit caps how much $USDC can be destroyed on one chain for reminting on another. Circle plans to reduce those limits and transfer capacity through November, then pause the contracts on Dec. 1. Any integration still pointing to V1 at that point will no longer move $USDC across chains. The cutoff governs cross-chain routing. Circle’s migration…

Bitcoin traders are turning their attention to Jackson Hole, where Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh is scheduled to deliver his first keynote as Fed Chair later this week. The 2026 Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium runs from August 27 to August 29, with this year’s theme centered on “Financial Innovation: Implications for Payments and Policy.” Warsh is scheduled to speak on Friday morning, August 28, according to the event materials. That timing matters because crypto markets are already watching liquidity, ETF flows, rate expectations, and the dollar. Bitcoin does not need the Fed to mention crypto directly for the speech…
Virtu Financial, M1X Global and Tradeweb completed an onchain repo transaction using a sovereign digital bond as collateral, with the full transaction settling on the Canton Network. The transaction used USDM1, a US dollar-denominated sovereign bond issued onchain by the Republic of the Marshall Islands and backed 1:1 by short-term US Treasurys. The bond pays a coupon while being used as collateral and is structured under New York law as a fully collateralized sovereign obligation. Both companies said it was the first repo to combine natively issued sovereign collateral with fully onchain atomic settlement. Executed between regulated counterparties on Tradeweb,…
Mantle has accumulated about $880 million in stablecoins and tokenized assets as its onchain product range has expanded across equities, Treasuries, funds and yield-bearing assets. Mantle’s asset base approaches $880 million Blockworks Research data shows that Mantle’s stablecoin circulating supply has reached approximately $550 million, while tokenized assets on the network account for another $330 million. The two categories place the combined value at about $880 million. Source: Mantle/Blockworks Unlike networks built mainly around one class of real-world assets, Mantle’s tokenized supply covers commodities, stocks, U.S. Treasuries, yield-bearing stablecoins, a pre-IPO vault and the MI4 tokenized fund. Blockworks counts 985…
Grayscale has filed Amendment No. 5 to its Form S-3 registration statement as part of its effort to convert the Grayscale Zcash Trust into a spot Zcash ETF. The filing, submitted on August 21, targets a listing on NYSE Arca on or about August 25, according to the filing materials. It also discloses a 2.5% annual management fee and a cash-create, cash-redemption model. That makes the filing notable for two reasons. First, it shows the crypto ETF market continues to expand beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum. Second, it brings a privacy-focused asset like Zcash back into a regulated product conversation. But…

OIRA coordinates Executive Branch review of significant draft regulations before an agency publishes them. The receipt advances the rulemaking process; publication and Commission consideration still lie ahead. The Unified…
Payment channels similar to Bitcoin (BTC) Lightning are coming to Cardano (ADA) by means of a new state channel architecture dubbed Cardano Lightning. Currently in pre-production deployment, the system was presented in detail during an August 24 Cardano Community livestream featuring PolyCrypto software engineer Ilja von Hoessle. At its core, Cardano Lightning consists of bidirectional payment channels that allow two parties to send and receive payments directly. More precisely, either party can close a channel at any time, without putting the other party’s funds at risk. “Bitcoin itself is slow, but it’s secure. What you’d ideally like to do is…

Postquant Labs, the developer behind quantum computing protocol quip.network, has announced the imminent public launch of QuipSwap, its Bridgeless Swap Protocol. QuickSwap is aimed at addressing the dual challenges of cross-chain security vulnerabilities and the looming threat to current cryptographic standards posed by its own quantum computing network. The protocol represents the first solution to enable trustless cross-chain transactions without bridges, oracles, or wrapped assets, components that have historically been the primary vectors for billions of dollars in losses from hacks and exploits.…
