Stacks founder Muneeb Ali is returning as Stacks Labs CEO, opening a new leadership chapter centered on growing Bitcoin-based financial infrastructure.
Muneeb will be replacing interim CEO Alex Miller, who is shifting into an advisory role following his role in establishing Stacks Labs.
This leadership transition comes as Stacks shifts its focus towards adoption after completing various key infrastructure milestones.
Ali returns with institutional expansion in focus
The Stacks network already collaborates with 21Shares, UTXO Management, HashKey Cloud, Anchorage Digital, and Fireblocks as far as Bitcoin staking is concerned.
Additionally, the Genesis Bond was launched with 250 BTC from four institutions, reinforcing Stacks’ push into institutional Bitcoin products.
Anchorage Digital furthermore recently introduced custody infrastructure in support of BTC-denominated rewards while the principal remains on Bitcoin L1.
Beyond institutional adoption, the incoming CEO also identified 100x capacity, institutional-grade privacy, and post-quantum development among his top priorities as he took over his new position.
Ali noted on an X post that he will be working alongside CTO Adriano Di Luzio and the wider team on these important initiatives.
Stacks is also extending institutional engagement across Hong Kong, Korea, and the larger Middle East with the broader objective of bringing more Bitcoin capital into applications built around Stacks.

Stacks’ [STX] price responded sharply after news emerged that Ali would return to lead Stacks Labs. Notably, the token surged 28.8% over 24 hours, reaching approximately $0.4039 during the rapid rally.
The rapid move was majorly centered on the renewed attention surrounding Ali’s leadership and Stacks’ plans for its next major development phase.
Additionally, the response was also attributed to the discussion around Bitcoin’s expanding application layer, which renewed attention across the market.
Ultimately, the new leadership transition now puts the institutional expansion, greater network capacity, and Bitcoin-native applications at the center of STX’s next chapter.
