Ambitious Goals for Genesis
Cambria’s founder, Ben.zzz, has set out to create Genesis as the first MMORPG economy on a national scale. During a recent AMA, he emphasized that the game will feature a persistent world where the economy is projected to be worth millions. He cited a successful prize pool of approximately $1.8 million raised within just 10 days during the last season as evidence of player interest.
Transitioning to a Persistent World
Genesis will replace Cambria’s previous seasonal model with a steady, non-resetting environment. This shift aims to enhance player engagement, allowing for persistent assets, guild treasuries, and high-stakes competition. Players will be able to own buildings in five major cities, collect taxes, and form alliances to optimize resources and combat monopolies.
Limited Initial Access
The launch of Genesis will not be open to all players immediately. According to Ben.zzz, the game will first welcome a limited number of initial players, with additional waves to follow. This strategy contrasts with past seasons that supported 3,000 to 4,000 concurrent players.
RSGP Token and Future Plans
The recently established Cambria Foundation has introduced the RSGP (Real Stakes Game Play) token, which will be central to the Genesis economy. However, details regarding the token’s supply, distribution, and launch date remain undisclosed. Players had until September 29, 2023, to participate in a Genesis Event Opt-In Agreement.
Current Event Performance
The ongoing Genesis event has seen over $41 million in total volume, with significant contributions from Dungeon Fishing. The latest game update launched on September 28, introducing new features before the anticipated Genesis Testnet. Ben.zzz reiterated that participation in this economy will come at a cost, stating, “None of this will be a free lunch.”
