In the latest display of NFTs hitting the mainstream, popular livestreamer Kai Cenat showed off a Pudgy Penguins plush to tens of thousands of his fans live on Twitch.
This caps off a big year for the blue-chip NFT collection, following the debut of these plush toys in Walmart locations across the US in September 2023.
This was my whole mood today.

22-year-old Kai Cenat is currently the second most-subscribed livestreamer and 14th most-followed livestreamer on Twitch, with roughly 7 million followers and hundreds of thousands of regular viewers. Broadcasting live, he showed off a Pudgy Penguins plush he’d just purchased from Twitch, expressing excitement at its digital NFT element.
Pudgy Penguins is an 8,888-piece collectible NFT collection created by a group of US college students, and minted in July 2021. The ownership of the collection was purchased by 25-year-old Luca Netz in April 2022 for $2.5mil USD in Ethereum and has since gone from strength-to-strength, holding a 10.8 ETH floor price at the time of writing and becoming the first web3-native brand to have a major toy distribution deal.
