Japanese artist Takashi Murakami and Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot have joined forces to unveil a collection of watches linked to NFTs. In fact, this marks their fourth artistic collaboration, drawing inspiration from 1970s Japanese video games and TV shows. The NFTs are also modeled after the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami All Black watch launched in 2021.
Murakami X Hublot Debuting In Geneva?
The collection will debut at the 2023 Watches & Wonders trade show in Geneva, featuring 13 unique NFTs, each tied to a physical watch. Moreover, these digital replicas boast a unique rainbow hue and boast Murakami’s signature smiling flower emblem. However, only collectors who previously purchased one of the 324 NFTs released by Murakami and Hublot can purchase these timepieces.
Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Black Ceramic Rainbow?
The final watch in the collection is the Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Black Ceramic Rainbow. It showcases a spinning flower studded with precious gems. Until April 2024, the 12 NFTs can be resold on OpenSea. If a collector manages to acquire all 12 NFTs, they will have the opportunity to purchase the coveted watch. On the other hand, if not, Hublot will sell the watch at auction to raise funds for charity. Murakami has a rich history with NFTs, including his Murakami Flowers collection from March 2021 and collaborations with Nike-owned digital wearables studio RTFKT and Nike’s Cryptokicks NFT sneaker, which sold for 45 ETH or $134,000.
