Ronin network, the side-chain built by Sky Mavis, the team behind Axie Infinity, launches a staking program for their native token, RON, and also announces several development partners, bringing new games to the network!
No longer is Ronin only for Axies. Sky Mavis announces partnerships will several studios to develop games on their network. In addition, holders of RON token can now stake their tokens and start earning rewards soon!
RON staking is now live on the official staking page. Users choose a validator and stake their tokens to earn rewards. Since the validators and stakers are still setting up, rewards won’t start until April 12th.
This announcement also included notices of several new partner projects who will be building on the Ronin network. Interestingly, one of the first non-Axie projects on the Ronin network will be The Machines Arena, a multiplayer, top-down FPS built by the Civitas team.
What is The Machines Arena?
The Machines Arena is a quick-paced, action-packed, MOBA game pitting two teams of four players against each other in a variety of game modes. Wielding weapons such as guns, lasers, and flamethrowers, players fight in matches that typically take 5-10 minutes. The game looks nice and plays smoothly.
The game is still in development and flagged as early access on Steam. And though officially in ‘closed beta’, to play, all you have to do is click the request access button on their Steam game page. Overall, the initial response to the game has been positive.
The game takes up about 20 gigs of hard drive space, and requires a Windows 10 or newer operating system. Players can find the game at the Steam store web link (https://store.steampowered.com/app/1539860/The_Machines_Arena/), or by searching for it in the Steam client. The team plans to a release on Epic Games, as well as add mobile versions for Android and iOS
The Machines Arena was not originally planned to be a blockchain game, but since their first beta release they have expanded the game. And their new partnership with Sky Mavis allows them to introduce digital collectibles that can be minted to the Ronin chain.

Ronin Network
The Ronin network has been around for a while, but it seemed like not much was happening while other chains such as Gala Games and Immutable X surged ahead. That all changes now with the introduction of the RON staking system and the announcement of the new partnerships.
The Machines Arena is not the only title announced for the Ronin network. These include Tribesters, a social MMO, Axie Champions, a match three game, Battle Bears Heroes, a MOBA, and Bowled, a blockchain-based cricket game!
