Decentraland, the user-owned virtual platform, is gearing up for its annual Music Festival slated for November 2023. Building on the success of the past three years, the festival aims to showcase a wide range of live music events. The main attraction is scheduled to unfold from November 16 to 18. This year, the festival adopts the “Rebirth & Regeneration” theme, offering a space for artists and the virtual community to converge in a creative Metaverse celebration.
Opportunities for Artists and Creators
Artists looking to participate in this transformative experience can submit their applications to be featured in the main festival program. Selected artists are offered multiple incentives such as a $500 grant, promotion in the festival’s official program, and a slot to perform on one of the festival’s five virtual stages. As for the requirements, artists will need to provide a pre-recorded performance exclusively crafted for Decentraland Music Festival ’23.
Furthermore, creators can submit proposals for 3D installations, games, experiences, or performance spaces to be integrated into the Festival’s digital plaza. Those with selected proposals are eligible for a $1000 grant, a 2 x 2 plot of LAND in Decentraland’s Music Festival Plaza, and a Decentraland NAME, enabling them access to additional virtual land for future installations. All proposed works will be listed in the festival’s official program.
No entry fees are required for these submissions and the deadlines for these opportunities are as follows:
- Submission deadline: September 30 2023
- Selected proposals announced: October 6 2023
- All files are to be submitted by October 25 2023
Priority will be given to proposals that resonate with this year’s theme of “Rebirth & Regeneration.”
Decentraland Music Festival as a Virtual Cultural Epicenter
The Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival last year saw big growth from the previous year, featuring more than 200 musical artists—over double the number from the previous year. The lineup boasted major names across various genres, including Björk, Ozzy Osbourne, Souljaboy, Dillon Francis, Atarashii Gakko!, Breland, Izzu Bizu, and Akira the Don, among others. Additionally, numerous members of the Decentraland community participated in the event.
The Decentraland Music Festival has become a notable event in the virtual world, bringing together nearly 300 international artists over its three-year history. This year’s event aims to further the festival’s core values of “radical self-expression, communal growth, and artistic renewal,” according to the official release. By offering an accessible platform for established and emerging talents, the festival aims to foster a community-centric ethos and broaden the scope of artistic expression in the metaverse.
