Lil Pump, a multi platinum rapper who’s largest hits were in 2017-2019 would have been the last person I had on my bingo card as a crypto leader. But a little over two months ago, a serial scammer named Sahil decided to run a coin in Pumps name on Solana. But this rapper wasn’t going to allow his name to be damaged with this token. So he came in and he took it over leading the CTO or community takeover. But Pump was new to the world of Solana memecoins something he’s had no problem disclosing.
But rather than simply put his name behind it and barely even acknowledge it like some celebrities such as Jason Derulo did, Pump has been active, extremely. In addition to showing up regularly in Twitter spaces and video chats in his Telegram, he also has more recently started posting on Twitter constantly. In fact in a review of the last tweets over the past few days I lost track at around 100 a day. This seems to be a major difference from last week in which he was still posting daily but nowhere near around the levels in recent days.
And the crypto community has taken notice. All over crypto Twitter are acknowledgments of his efforts and his interactions with the crypto community. He interacts and engages with accounts large and small, cementing himself as a figure in the space. But not only has he done the right things he’s seemingly found a good team to align with. Most notably on his team is NFT Demon or Jeremy Ryan, the largest NFT artist on BNB Chain and a well respected figure in the crypto industry. This has sparked speculation that Ryan may release his first collection in over two years with Lil Pump. Ryan has deflected any questions about the potential plan but he has clearly taken an active role in the Lil Pump team as is evidenced by the tokens Telegram.
So far the plan seems to be working. After remaining stagnant for many days Lil Pump token was up almost 60% while Solana was down along with most cryptocurrency on Wednesday night. There really isn’t any visible difference as to why it soared outside of Pumps increased engagement and the waves its sending through the memecoin world. In a Twitter Spaces Pumps manager said they are trying to show celebrities what can be accomplished if they just stick with their tokens. After over two months I think we can be pretty sure Pump is here to stay. WIll it set the example he intends? Only time will tell. We will keep you updated as things move along.
