We’ve covered in a previous story how multi platinum rapper, Lil Pump, was trying to change the game for celebrity memecoins. Like many celebrities, his token was rugged by infamous scammer Sahil. But Pump wouldn’t allow his name to be tarnished despite not having anything to do with the rug. So he swooped in and led the CTO or community takeover of the Solana token. Since then he’s done a variety of things related to the degen community including Twitter Spaces, Telegram VCs, and pushing the token consistently both on Twitter and on his new Kick stream.
It seemed there was only one aspect of Solana culture he hadn’t quite immersed himself in and that was NFTs. But that would all change last month. On September 12 Lil Pump announced on Twitter that he would be doing a free NFT drop with well known artist and $lilpump team member Jeremy Ryan or NFT Demon. This collection would be released on Drip Haus, a place where NFT collectors can collect free NFTs from their favorite artists. This marks the first time a celebrity has teamed up with a well known artist to release art and the name and theme of the collection will be “Pump and Trump”.
Of note the collection is dropping while Lil Pump is on an Asian leg of his music tour showing his dedication even when overseas performing. But its also noteworthy due to the choice of artist. NFT Demon is the largest artist on the BNB Chain formerly BSC. According to Wikipedia he boasts a celebrity following amongst his different pages that includes Snoop Dogg, John Cena, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Tommy Chong, and of course Lil Pump among others. He was also the first and only artist on that chain to have pieces owned by rapper Eminem. In short, Lil Pump didn’t just pay some cheap Fiverr artist for the free NFTs he went with one of the largest in the industry further showing a commitment and dedication to both the culture and his token.
Things took a slight turn on October 1st, however. Drip Haus announced new rules which would make it so that people could no longer get free droplets ten which would be required to claim the free NFT if they were new to the platform. A thousand droplets can be procured for a dollar, but NFT Demon took to Twitter to announce his frustrations that the platform had switched away from free NFTs. He did however state that if someone was unable to claim droplets prior and unable to afford the dollar he would airdrop them the ten droplets. But time is running out to be able to claim the NFTs so here is how.
Simply sign up for Drip Haus at drip.haus. After that go to NFT Demons personal art page on the platform where you can follow him. You can try your hand and see what you get or you can buy droplets to raise your status by “thanking him” to try to get a spot at a guaranteed legendary or rare. Regardless of which option you choose your “Pump and Trump” NFT will be available to claim on October 5th no gas even necessary. This marks a new wave for celebrity collaborations and an innovative way for Lil Pump to be at the forefront of what could be a new trend. Giving back to the holders. All NFTs will be immediately tradeable on Tensor. With a Trump song on the way and Lil Pump seeming primed for a massive comeback in the music industry these NFTs could hold decent value in the future. Metadata will also point to the token website, creating a new form of token marketing.
As for how large of an effect the NFT drop has that remains to be seen. Theres no other reference point to go off of. But one thing that is clear is that Lil Pump remains committed to innovating within the Solana culture as well as sticking around. Given those two things its hard to see any scenario where the token wouldn’t succeed well beyond its current market cap. We will keep you posted as further developments come along.
