Crypto.com, one of the leading digital asset exchanges in the world, has partnered with Studio Dragon, a Korean drama producer and distributor, to issue NFTs based on its most popular Korean drama series. Initially, the collaboration will feature two shows, ‘Crash Landing on You’ and ‘Start Up’.
The memorandum of understanding between the two entities was signed last August but made public at the start of this week. In a press release, Crypto.com notes that the first batch of NFTs will debut on February 8 and be based on Studio Dragon’s art toy DearRo.
The DearRo art collection is inspired by a dragon that has a fondness for K-dramas and enjoys dressing up or imitating the main characters of its favorite shows. The collection will consist of 500 NFTs in total. Following the release, however, two global drama IPs and six main character costume cards will be introduced.
Through this partnership, Studio Dragon aims to regularly engage with fans by launching NFTs that introduce new K-dramas on a quarterly basis.

Crypto.com was Looking for New Opportunities
Before this MOU was struck, Crypto.com was searching for opportunities in the Korean entertainment industry. According to Patrick Yoon, General Manager of the exchange in Korea, the partnership “will allow both companies to develop new ways for fans around the world to experience K contents.” He goes on to add that “Crypto.com will continue to collaborate with large content studios and management companies on their IPs and introduce Korean culture and arts to our 80 million users worldwide.”
Studio Dragon’s foray into NFTs is the latest in a growing trend of entertainment companies based in Korea exploring non-fungible tokens to interact with their massive audience. Recently, major Korean music labels such as HYBE, SM, YG, JPY, and Cube have all declared interest in NFTs and the metaverse.
