Eve Online developer CCP Games is set to launch early access to its latest blockchain-based survival game Eve Frontier.
Founder Access packs will grant early participants exclusive benefits and access to the Closed Alpha phase starting December 10.
The Closed Alpha includes an “always-on server” where players can explore the game’s mechanics and contribute feedback, whilst Founder Access perks include cosmetic items, premium post-launch gameplay, and community roles.
What is Eve Frontier?
Eve Frontier is a space survival game built on Ethereum’s layer-2 Redstone network.
The game will feature the $EVE utility token as a core element for in-game activities. This integration allows for a unique economic model and governance structure compared to traditional games.
CCP Games has highlighted its ambition to involve players more directly in shaping the game’s development and governance.
How to participate in Early Access?
Early access is available through three tiers of Founder Access packs priced at $29.99, $59.99, and $89.99
These packs include various benefits such as exclusive in-game skins, premium subscription time after the game’s launch, and a “Founder” role on the game’s official Discord server. Participants will also have opportunities to engage directly with the development team through regular streams.
During the Closed Alpha, players will be required to adhere to a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), ensuring that development details remain confidential whilst the team gathers feedback to refine the gameplay experience.
What’s next to Eve Frontier?
“Our long-term vision is to create an open ecosystem built, operated and governed by the Frontier’s inhabitants themselves,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO at CCP Games.
CCP Games plans to eventually release Eve Frontier as a free-to-play game. The early access phase serves as a testing ground to refine the game’s systems and ensure a stable launch. Although the use of blockchain technology has generated mixed reactions, CCP Games maintains that its focus remains on delivering a balanced and engaging player experience.
The studio has not yet announced a specific timeline for the game’s full release.
