BAYC’s Progressive Journey
Reflecting on BAYC’s early days, some fans took to the thread to discuss the first-ever Bored Ape NFTs. These were initially priced at just 0.08 ETH (about $235.82) and sold out within 12 hours during their ‘pre-mint’ phase.
BAYC had plenty to reflect on yesterday. In less than two years after the collection’s initiation, its popularity soared, leading to a record-breaking $3.4 million sale for the most valuable Ape ever sold (BAYC #8817).
The project has attracted a star-studded list of holders from various fields, including Justin Bieber, Eminem, Serena Williams, Stephen Curry, Shaquille O’Neal, and Jimmy Fallon.
Leveraging the funds amassed from sales, BAYC has opened its own wine company, taken over Roblox, designed streetwear with BAPE, crafted immersive games, and joined the metaverse—even with the likes of Adidas—to name a few.
BMW notably took to X to extend warm birthday wishes to the Ape team, expressing, “Let’s go ape in Portugal“, teasing the possibility of something exciting brewing between the two brands for the upcoming event.
Despite a loyal fan base and diverse ventures, sales for the NFT project have declined since peaking. Daily sales, which hit $53 million in August 2021, have now dropped to $458,856, as per CryptoSlam data.
Even in a slowdown, BAYC remains strong. Yesterday’s sale of BAYC #8944 for $44,817 (13.7800 ETH) highlights its ongoing appeal, reinforced by its active community.
